WBJEE 2020 Rank/ Merit List

WBJEEB will be preparing two separate Merit Lists once the results are declared. The merit lists will be based on the respective candidate’s General Merit Rank (GMR) and Pharmacy Merit List (PMR). As per the rank of the candidates in WBJEE 2020, they are called for seat allotments and admission process. Higher is the rank, better is the chances of admission. In addition to this, participating colleges will also release respective cut-off marks and qualified candidates will subsequently be called for counselling.

WBJEE merit list (GMR) is prepared on the basis of scores secured by the candidates in papers I and II, i.e., scores secured by the candidates in Mathematics and Physics-Chemistry paper. It is applicable for admissions to engineering, architecture, and technology courses in the State. Whereas PMR is only prepared based on marks secured in paper II i.e. in Physics-Chemistry paper. It will be applicable for admissions to pharmacy courses in colleges across the State with an exception Jadavpur University.

WBJEE 2020 Counselling

WBJEE Counselling 2020 will involve a centralized computer-based choice filling and seat allotment process. After completion of each round of seat allotment, candidates are required to report for document verification and submission of tuition fee for provisional admission. The admission procedure is entirely the same for both WBJEE qualifiers and JEE Mains All India Rank holders.

It can be divided broadly into 4 steps for a candidate to gain admission in their preferred course and institute namely, online registration, payment of fees, Lock in of choices, and seat allotment. After the final step, candidates will be required to report at the reporting centres for document verification.

It must be noted that counselling will be conducted on the ‘basis of candidates’ respective GMR/PMR/AIR, as the case may be. Online registration will only be allowed once in the 1st round of counselling. No fresh registration will be allowed in the subsequent rounds of counselling. Seats in the first round will be allocated based on candidates’ rank, preferred choices and seat availability. For the remaining rounds, seats will be allocated based on the vacant seats of the previous round.

Candidates will have to pay the requisite fee of Rs. 500/- for counselling process. WBJEEB will soon declare the counselling schedule once the results are declared.

Although the WBJEEB has released a provisional list of institutions that are participating in the WBJEE counselling, the final list shall be updated after the rank list is prepared and released. The schedule of counselling will be notified shortly after results announcement.

More details on WBJEE marks vs rank, opening and closing rank etc. will be discussed in a separate post here later this week.
