Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), also known as MG University is all set to publish the trial allotment for its Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2020 on September 4th. The rank list has already been released for non-CAP candidates but for MGU CAP 2020, the provisional rank list and trial allotment result is scheduled to release on September 4, 2020. The final rank list for Cultural/Sports and PD Quota was published on September 3rd, 2020. The Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Centralised Admission Process (CAP) has been established to facilitate admission through the Centralised Admission Process for all seats in Government Colleges, open quota seats and seats earmarked for SC/ST candidates in Aided Colleges while 50% seats in the Unaided Colleges. The trial allotment for MG University or MGU CAP 2020 will be published on cap.mgu.ac.in for the students who have finished their registration process and marked the options.
Under the ‘Latest News’ section on the MGU CAP website, it is mentioned clearly that “Publication of provisional rank list and trial allotment’ will take place on 04/09/2020.” This notice is for the regular degree students as the allotment and rank list for Sports/Cultural & PDF quota was released on September 3rd.
The trial allotment is conducted and published to familiarise students with the seat allotment and admission process. The actual admissions will start after the first allotment on September 14th, for which the schedule is described below.
MG CAP UG 2020 Admission & Allotment Schedule
MG University has released the admission schedule for its MGU CAP 2020, when the registrations begin. The provisional rank list and trial allotment will be published on September 4th, 2020 as per the schedule and the dates for further events has been provided below.
The MGU CAP First Allotment is to be published September 14th, followed by Second Allotment on September 24th.

How to check Allotment at cap.mgu.ac.in
The students can check the allotment result by following method:
- Visit the official website (cap.mgu.ac.in).
- Click on the ‘Login’ window or the separate link given for the allotment
- Login with application number and password generated during registration
- Check the list of college/course allotted to you as per the options marked.
MG CAP UG 2020 Admission Process
Candidates will be admitted to various courses in MG University through the Centralised Admission Process. The admission process begins with candidates registering themselves through CAP portal.
After the registration process concludes the University will then publish the provisional rank list and Trial Allotment. This will be based on Index Marks calculated on the basis of respective candidate’s scores in the qualifying exams. The Trial Allotment will give the students an idea of chance of allotment.
Candidates will them be given a window to revise options. Following this, the University will publish the First Allotment. Selected candidates will then have to pay requisite fee to the University through online modes and report to the allotted college to confirm allotment.
Then the candidates will again be provided with a window to revise their options. After this the same process will continue till for Second Allotment and Third Allotment. After the final allotment is completed, the college classes will commence.
The University will conduct special allotment for SC/ST candidates. In addition to this, the University will also conduct further supplementary allotments based on the number of vacancies in colleges.
The registration process for undergraduate admissions commenced from 28 July. The University has announced that it will soon notify details about the postgraduate admissions as well. Usually the UG admission process is concluded by this time, but it has been delayed this year due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. MG University released the UG admission 2020 prospectus on 28th July as well. The University will conduct the admission process for more than 180 Government/Aided/Unaided colleges this year, offering admissions to over 70 UG programmes in the fields of Language & Literature, Social Sciences, Science, Commerce, Education and, Technology among others.
MG University has set a certain academic qualification criterion for UG admissions. Students must have passed the qualifying examination (Class 12th/Plus 2) from the State Board, CBSE or CISCE or an equivalent examination from board recognised by the University.
The University requires candidates to secure passing marks in the qualifying examination. However, for certain UG programmes 50% aggregate marks are required by the University. Candidates can check the same in the prospectus. In addition to this, the University also requires students to have opted for specific subjects in the qualifying exam for certain courses.
