JIPMER entrance exam for admission to post graduate courses was conducted successfully today. A total of 16,357 candidates were registered for JIPMER entrance exam 2020. The entrance exam has been conducted for admission to 151 seats in MD/MS, MDS, PDF and PDC courses.

Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) organizes competitive entrance examination for admissions to the courses. For admissions to July 2020 session, the post-graduate entrance exam has been conducted on Sunday, 21st June. The selected students will be offered admission to following courses:
- 86 seats in MD (Doctor of Medicine) course
- 39 seats in MS (Master of Surgery) course
- 2 seats in MDS course
- 10 seats in PDF (Post Doctoral Fellowship) courses
- 14 seats in PDC (Post-Doctoral Certificate) courses
JIPMER entrance exam was conducted in two shifts : exam for MD/ MS/ MDS courses from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and exam for PDF/ PDC courses from 9.30 am to 11 am. The entrance exam was conducted in Online mode. The exam for MD/ MS course comprised of 250 questions distributed among two sections :
- Basic Clinical Sciences and Biostatistics – 100 questions
- Clinical Sciences – 150 questions
JIPMER entrance exam for MDS course comprises of total 100 questions, out of which the paper had 30 questions on Basic Clinical Sciences & Biostatistics and 70 questions on Dental Science. The entrance exam for PDF/ PDC courses also comprised of 100 questions. Each question in JIPMER entrance exam 2020 carries 4 marks. For each wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted from total score as there will be negative marking in the test.
JIPMER PG Merit List
JIPMER result of entrance exam will be declared within 10 days of the exam, i.e. the results will be announced on or before 1st July. The results will be published online and the candidates can check their marks & percentile scores from JIPMER website www.jipmer.edu.in. To check the result, the candidates will have to use their roll number and password.
The candidates will be offered admission to the courses on the basis of JIPMER merit list only. The Institute has fixed minimum criteria for admissions and only those candidates scoring marks more than minimum percentile will be included in the merit list.
Minimum Percentile for JIPMER Entrance Exam
UR/ EWS/ OCI/ NRI/ sponsored candidates – 50%
UR/ EWS – OPH candidates – 45%
SC/ ST/ OBC/OPH candidates – 45%
On the basis of performance of all candidates in the entrance exam, JIPMER merit list will be prepared. JIPMER will publish overall merit list and category-wise merit list along with entrance exam results. Along with JIPMER results, counselling schedule will also be announced.
For MD/ MS/ MDS courses, total number of candidates to be called for counselling will be 10 times the number of seats available in each category.
For PDF/ PDCC courses, merit lists will be prepared based on percentile scores obtained in entrance exam or percentage in each discipline. In each discipline (specialty) the total number of candidates to be called for certificate verification will be 3 times the number of seats available in each discipline.
JIPMER will organize counselling for admission to all post-graduate courses after announcement of JIPMER entrance exam results. The counselling process will be carried out in below mentioned manner:
