Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has launched a scholarship scheme exclusively for the girls. The Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), DRDO, released this notification on June 26th and has invited women studying in the first year of B.E/B.Tech and M.E/M.Tech courses for this scholarship scheme. This initiative is being touted as a progressive measure and a step to tap the talent of bright students across the country and attract women candidates for a fulfilling career at DRDO.
This ‘DRDO Scholarship Scheme for Girls’ is offering candidates an amount up to Rs. 1,20,000 per year for Undergraduate students and Rs. 1,86,000 for students in post graduate programs. Interested students need to have JEE Mains and GATE score to apply for this scholarship scheme. At the end of the selection process, DRDO will offer 20 scholarships to undergraduate students and 10 scholarships to postgraduate students.

Eligibility For UG students
Candidates in the first year of B.Tech/BE/B.Sc Engineering course in academic year 2020-21 studying in the fields of Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Space Engineering & Rocketry, Avionics and Aircraft Engineering are eligible to apply. Furthermore, candidates must have cleared and possess a JEE Mains score.
Eligibility for PG Students
Candidates in the first year of M.Tech/ME/ M.Sc Engineering course in the academic year 2020-21 studying in the fields of Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Space Engineering & Rocketry, Avionics and Aircraft Engineering are eligible to apply. Furthermore, candidates must have a valid GATE score. In addition to this, candidates must have scored a minimum of 60% marks/6.75 GPA in the qualifying exam for graduate level.
The above mentioned courses should be of full-time in nature. The table given below has complete details regarding the eligibility criteria.
The selection process for this scholarship scheme will be done entirely through online channels. Interested candidates will have to apply online through DRDO’s Recruitment & Assessment Centre(RAC) portal.
The final selection will be based on the candidate’s respective JEE Mains or GATE score.
Interested candidates will be able to apply for the scholarship from July 19th through RAC website (rac.gov.in). Candidates should have the following documents in order to apply-
- Recent passport size color photograph (max. size 50 KB)
- Aadhaar Card (max 500 KB)
- Proof of admission (max 500 KB)
- Fees details (max 500 KB)
- Certificate from Institute (max 500 KB)
While filling the application form candidates should check that they have selected the correct scholarship and filled in correct details.
The selected UG candidates will receive up to Rs. 1,20,000 per year for four years. Whereas selected PG candidates will receive Rs. 15,500 per month for 2 years.
In addition to this, after being selected all the candidates will have to maintain an average of 70%/7 GPA in the subsequent academic years in order to keep on receiving the scholarship.
