The Assam State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) has released the official notification for recruitment of 1081 forester and forest guard etc vacancies in Forest Department of the Assam state. Salary: The pay scale (Rs. 14,000-60,500) is same for all the posts including forest guard, forester 1, but grade pay is different. Detailed pay scale below.

The recruitment board published an advertisement SLPRB/REC/Forest/GD-III/1081/2020/179 a few days ago for filling these posts under Forest Department.

- 35 Surveyor posts
- 11 Stenographer Grade-III posts
- 28 Mahut posts
- 1 Carpenter post
These posts are further reserved category-wise as follows:
- General – 496 posts
- OBC – 157 posts
- SC- 60 posts
- ST- 261 posts
- EWS- 107 posts
The job seekers must read the advertisement carefully before applying for Assam Forest recruitment 2020. The advertisement contains details like educational qualification, age limit, selection process among other specifications and hence the aspirants must understand these details before filling the application form. The application link is now active at official web portal www.slprbassam.in.
According to the posts, the minimum educational qualification requirement is different for each post. The candidates having Bachelor’s degree can apply for Forester-I and Stenographer Grade-III posts. Class 12 (Higher Secondary) pass candidates can apply for Forest Guard posts. Similarly, candidates having Class 10 (HSLC) certificate are eligible for Surveyor, Carpenter and Driver posts. For Mahut posts, the candidates having passed Class 8 are also eligible. For some posts, specific experience/ qualification is also required which is mentioned in the advertisement.
The candidates in the age group 21 to 38 are eligible to apply for Forester-I & Steno Grade-III posts, while age limit 18 to 38 is applicable for other posts. Confirming the age relaxation rules, 3 years and 5 year relaxation in upper age limit is also available for OBC and SC/ST candidates respectively.

The applicants must satisfy themselves for eligibility before filling Assam Forest recruitment application form. The applications can be filled up to 25th June. The candidates will be issued admit card/ call letter for appearing in the selection tests. After submission of applications, the candidates will be informed through SMS & email about the tests.
SLPRB Assam had earlier invited the applications for the post of Forest Guard and Carpenter under advertisement Janasanyog/7617/16 on 22 Dec 2016. The current notification is in continuation with this recruitment and so those candidates who had applied for the posts earlier are not required to apply now if they do not intend to apply for other posts. However, if such applicants want to apply for other posts also, their eligibility will be tested as per present advertisement only. Such candidates can apply after 1 June 2020.

The selection process for all the posts under Assam Forest Recruitment 2020 is divided in two phases. The post-wise selection process is explained below:
For Forester-I and Forest Guard posts
- First Phase – Physical fitness test
- Second phase – Written test
After the conclusion of application process, all the eligible applicants will be called for Physical fitness test. The board will prepare a merit list comprising of candidates equal to 5 times the number of posts (in each category) and they will be called for second phase written test. The written test will comprise of questions on General Mathematics, English & Vernacular (Grammar & Comprehension & Composition), Logical Reasoning and Aptitude, Assam’s History, Geography, Polity & Economy, General Awareness/ General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

All the applicants will be called for written test and shortlisted candidates will be called for Practical test. The written test format will be the same as for Forester-I and Forest Guard posts.
For Surveyor, Driver, Carpenter & Mahut posts
A common written test will be conducted for all applicants. The question paper will test the candidates’ understanding of Elementary Arithmetic, Vernacular Language and Basic General Awareness/ General Knowledge. The second phase of selection process will be Skill Test/ Practical test as per the recruitment rules of the Forest Department.
The selection to all the posts will be on the basis of final merit list derived by taking candidates’ performance in first phase test and second phase test.
