Amma Vodi 2021 release date; laptop scheme for students announced

Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, the current Chief Minister of the state of Andhra Pradesh (AP) announced the Amma Vodi release date 2021 today on January 21, 2021 for disbursal of amount under the scheme. This is for the second time that Andhra Pradesh government has disbursed the Amma Vodi scheme amount into the bank accounts of the mothers who send their children to the schools. The laptop scheme was also announced today for the SSC and intermediate students.

“Amma Vodi” is a welfare scheme run by the government of Andhra Pradesh to provide financial assistance to the mothers/recognised guardians falling in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) for the education of their children between classes 1-12. This is one of the 9 flagship welfare scheme launched under ‘Navaratnalu’ by YS Jaganmohan Reddy government.

Amma Vodi date 2021 for the release of payment amount to the beneficiaries was unveiled on January 11, 2021 in a live press conference led by Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh state Chief Minister.

Here are the highlights from the live announcement:

  • Amma Vodi payment amount has been released on January 11, 2021 into the bank accounts of beneficiaries. The beneficiaries can check their Amma Vodi payment status online or go to the school, Ward secretariat or Grama Sachivalayam office in their respective region.   • According to the reports, nearly 84 lakh students, including 72.74 lakh in classes 1-10 and 10.91 intermediate students have been placed in the Amma Vodi list 2021 of eligible beneficiaries which can also be viewed at

  • “In Amma Vodi second phase, Rs 15000/- each has been transferred into 44.48 lakh beneficiary’ accounts at a cost of Rs 6,673 crore to the State government” the CMO office informed.

Laptops for students

On the occasion of Amma Vodi payment release, the Andhra Pradesh CM also made a big announcement for the SSC and intermediate students covered under this scheme. The students between classes 9-12 can avail this benefit from the next year.

The CM said that from next time, the mothers/guardians of the students can choose if they want a laptop instead of the Amma Vodi scheme money amount. The laptops that will be provided cost around Rs 25-27,000, the minister said, and that the government is arranging to bring down the cost of the laptops. The minister said that this step has been taken in view of the the current situation when most of the classes in this academic year were taken online due to the pandemic.
